In 2010, the school was reconstructed under the Building Schools for the Future initiative. We are fortunate to enjoy a modern, well-equipped school designed and built for 21st century teaching.
Our class rooms are modern, well maintained and have integrated IT facilities (interactive writing boards, visualisers and projectors).
Among our facilities, we have a large assembly hall with state of the art PA and lighting systems which seats approximately 200 people which we use to convene and discuss ideas or to host guest speakers who can inspire and educate our students. Computer rooms are equipped with Microsoft Office, internet access and a number of other applications to help students with their research and presentation and support their learning. Practical subjects such as Drama, DT, Food and Art benefit from specialist equipment and facilities, allowing pupils to gain hands-on experience in all areas.
We also have a dedicated sports hall with a wooden sprung floor, 3G football pitches, an outdoor hard court area and expansive grass pitches for both PE lessons and after-school sporting activities.
We have a self-container off-site educational unit close to the school equipped with two classrooms, a meeting room, a social room, a kitchen and a private consultation room which we use to provide a range of alternative provision for pupils who may need extra support.

Buxworth Base is a former railway station at Buxworth in the Peak District of Derbyshire, recently converted into a fully equipped, self-contained Residential / Activity Centre with indoor space and facilities for up to 16 people plus camping space outside that we use to provide young people with character building experiences and access to the countryside. Facilities at our school site are available to community groups to let between 4.00pm and 9.00pm, Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 6.00pm on Saturday, and 9.00am to 5.00pm on Sunday. We can cater for different types of events from evening classes to various sporting and fitness events.
The Hive is available for hire too, either on a room-by-room basis or the building as a whole. Buxworth Base is available as a self-catering accommodation to schools, youth organisations and other corporate bodies. It can also be used as a camping base for activities such as Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions.
